Ajax eyeing loan deal for Christian Eriksen, Manchester United looking at permanent exit – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are far from happy with two incomings and want more but due to their meagre budget, player sales will be necessary to fund the next spate of arrivals.

The club are looking at overhauling their midfield with big-name stars like Casemiro and Scott McTominay both being linked with an exit.

According to Teamtalk, another experienced campaigner in Christian Eriksen could also be moved on with Ajax eyeing a loan move for the Dane.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star struggled to adapt to Erik ten Hag’s shift to a high-transition system with the midfielder having lost a yard of pace.

Eriksen open to leaving

The manager realised that and replaced him with Kobbie Mainoo, who went on to enjoy a breakthrough campaign for both club and country.

The Denmark international started just 14 times last season as compared to 37 in his first campaign at Old Trafford and made his dissatisfaction known to the Dutchman and reportedly told his inner circle that he wanted to leave in search of regular minutes.

United are unlikely to sanction a direct loan as Eriksen’s current deal ends in 2025. They do not want to risk losing the player on a free.

The 32-year-old had arrived as a free agent and any fee recouped from a permanent exit would be a bonus. United plan to sell him this summer or latest by January, after which the player will be free to agree a pre-contract with a club of his liking.

The Dutch giants, who finished a whopping 35 points behind eventual champions PSV Eindhoven, are struggling financially and hence the planned loan attempt.

Ajax eyeing loan deal

“European giants Ajax are eyeing a loan move for Manchester United star Christian Eriksen but the Premier League giants have different plans for the midfielder, TEAMtalk can reveal.

“TEAMtalk sources state United are looking to offload Eriksen and his former team Ajax – where he made a name for himself as a rising star of the game between 2010-13 – are interested in bringing him back to the Eredivisie.

“The troubled Dutch giants have struggled financially of late and would target a loan deal for the midfielder. They would then try to sign him on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer but United may want to try and sell him this summer, or at the latest in January, to get a fee for him.”

His current market value stands at €8 million and INEOS should look to recoup close to that amount for a player suited to the Dutch league, which is technical and played at a slower tempo as compared to the Premier League.
