Rising Golf Star Secures Sponsorship Deal with Matfen Hall – Golf News

Amateur golfer Rosie Belsham is on track to realise her professional aspirations with a significant sponsorship deal with prestigious five-star luxury country hotel and golf estate, Matfen Hall.

The collaboration marks a pivotal moment in Rosie’s career, offering her access to world-class facilities and support that will enable her to compete at the highest levels of the sport.

Matfen Hall’s sponsorship provides the 22-year old with funding to go through the Lalla Aicha Qualifying School in December this year.  Rosie will then compete in the 20 weeks of tournament play across the continent.

The sponsorship will also help cover some additional travel and accommodation expenses.

Matfen Hall will also provide Rosie with access to their state-of-the-art gym and spa facilities, ensuring she maintains peak physical condition. Additionally, the five-star property is currently working towards securing premium golf apparel and leisurewear for Rosie.

Hailing originally from Whitley Bay, Rosie began her journey in golf at the tender age of nine. She started playing alongside her family, balancing her time between golf and hockey.

A natural talent, Rosie’s commitment to golf deepened as she participated in national tournaments and decided to pursue her dreams. This led her across the Atlantic at 18, to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she studied health, kinesiology, and leisure.

“My journey in golf has been incredible,” Rosie reflects. “I started playing seriously at 14 and made a life-changing decision to study and play in the United States.

The four years I spent at Baylor University have been invaluable. The experience, both on and off the course, has helped shape me and reaffirm my commitment to this incredible sport.”

Rosie’s connection with Matfen Hall dates back to her early training days. From ages 14 to 16, she trained under the guidance of coach, JJ Vallely, at Matfen’s leading facilities. Returning to the UK after her graduation, Rosie sought out Matfen Hall’s renowned 27-hole championship golf course to continue to pursue her training and dream of turning pro.

“Matfen Hall has always been a special place for me,” Rosie shares. “Their facilities are outstanding, and the environment is perfect for focused training.

When the opportunity arose to partner with them, it felt like a match made in heaven. Their support means the world to me as I transition into professional golf.”

James O’Donnell, Matfen Hall’s Head of Commercial Development, said: “Rosie really impressed me when we met to discuss this opportunity, her passion for the game and very obvious talent is only outmatched by her level headed approach and her humility.

In the four years that Rosie has been studying at Baylor University, Matfen Hall has developed in a number of ways.

Golf has always been an important aspect of our offering, however we have invested heavily in the facilities for our members and guests over the last year with more to come in the future.

Much like Rosie we aim to have a bright golfing future ahead, her impending rise to, and in, the professional game is an opportunity to showcase Matfen Hall on an international stage.

Rosie joined us last week for our Pro Am, playing as an amateur as she still is, Rosie put on an impressive display of golf and confirmed that Matfen is the place she can call home.

ROSIE’S GOALS

“Matfen Hall is fully committed to playing an active part in Rosie’s rise to the professional game. The sponsorship deal is initially for the year ahead, however we hope it will be a catalyst to Rosie’s future success and look forward to building upon the longstanding relationship Rosie has with Matfen Hall.”

Rosie’s immediate goals include gaining experience on the Ladies European Tour Access series, with the aim of securing her Ladies European Tour (LET) card at the Qualifying School in Morocco.

“The support from Matfen Hall allows me to focus entirely on my performance without the added pressure of financial constraints. It’s an incredible relief to know I can compete and focus on my game with their backing,” Rosie adds.

Looking ahead, Rosie has her sights set on joining the Ladies PGA Tour in America, which boasts higher prize funds and broader visibility. “The journey through the Ladies European Tour is a stepping stone to the Ladies PGA Tour,” Rosie explains.

“With the support from the whole team at Matfen Hall, I feel confident and prepared to take on the exciting challenges ahead.”
