Manchester United are plotting to hijack Newcastle’s move for Tosin Adarabioyo – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are getting ready to welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford this week after delivering a dreadful performance against Arsenal at home over the weekend.

With Champions League and Europa League football out of sight, all eyes are on the Europa Conference League for Man United. However, they face competition from Newcastle, who currently occupy the sixth place.

As such, there is plenty to fight for the Red Devils against the Magpies on Wednesday. The tension between the two clubs is no less off the pitch as well.

Much has been written about United’s approach for Dan Ashworth, which has irked senior figures at Newcastle. Now, the INEOS leadership may annoy them even further by hijacking one of their key targets.

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle stepped up efforts to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer over the weekend.

The English centre-back has decided to depart Fulham at the end of the season despite enjoying plenty of success under Marco Silva.

Eddie Howe’s side are hopeful of convincing Adarabioyo, but now they face serious competition from United, who are reportedly working on hijacking their move.

It is understood the club’s new technical director Jason Wilcox, who is expected to work alongside Ashworth to rejuvenate United, is keen on bringing Adarabioyo to Manchester.

Wilcox, who served as Manchester City’s head of academy before moving to Southampton, worked with the talented defender while he was part of City’s youth setup. The 26-year-old left the club in 2020 to join Fulham.

talkSPORT adds United intend to sign two centre-backs this summer. This comes on the back of Raphael Varane’s announcement that he is leaving the club following their FA Cup final outing at Wembley.

INEOS’ budget for United this summer is going to be heavily influenced due to the Premier League’s PSR rules.

As such, Adarabioyo’s arrival on a free transfer could go a long way in helping the club’s hierarchy address the backline without spending too much.
