Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Liverpool

Real Madrid will look to finish the job in their last 16 second leg clash with Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos fell two goals behind at Anfield but rallied to produce a masterful comeback, leaving Merseyside as 5-2 winners to put one foot into the quarter finals.

Here’s the side manager Carlo Ancelotti could pick to get his team over the line.

GK: Thibaut Courtois – Was the star of the show in last season’s Champions League final, proving his doubters wrong with nine saves.

RB: Dani Carvajal – Has had to fight off competition from Lucas Vazquez, Militao, Nacho and Alvaro Odriozola for the right back spot this season but starts more often than not.

CB: Eder Militao – Scored a bullet header against Espanyol on Saturday as Real came from behind to win 3-1.

CB: Antonio Rudiger – Is forming a strong partnership with Militao, which is ominous for the absent Alaba.

LB: Nacho Fernandez – Eduardo Camavinga looked a little errant positionally at the weekend so the trusty Nacho should be fielded at left back in the absence of both Ferland Mendy and David Alaba.

CM: Luka Modric – Scored twice against Liverpool back in his Tottenham days and has won six of his seven games against them with Real.

CM: Aurelien Tchouameni – Was partly culpable for Espanyol’s goal at the weekend but also set up Militao’s header with an awesome cross. A mixed campaign so far.

CM: Toni Kroos – Brought up 400 Madrid appearances in the win on Saturday, which includes 93 in the Champions League.

RW: Federico Valverde – Previously revealed his delight at being compared to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

ST: Karim Benzema – Has been struggling with ankle issues and could even be left out if Ancelotti doesn’t want to take risks. But if Liverpool somehow have a two-goal lead heading into injury time, expect Benzema to dust off his boots in search of more Champions League dramatics.

LW: Vinicius Junior – Was the all-important match winner in the UCL final last year. Continues to step up and provide talismanic performances when needed.

On this week’s show, Harry Symeou hosts Scott SaundersGrizz Khan and Hunter Godson. They talk Arsenal’s win over Fulham, Liverpool’s loss at Bournemouth, Casemiro’s red card vs Southampton and more.
